PITTSBURGH– The FDA is warning consumers of a new drug that’s been on the market for several years now, the agency said Thursday.
Viagra is a new medication that the FDA says is designed to improve blood flow to the penis, allowing men with erectile dysfunction to have an enhanced sexual experience.
It’s approved by the agency for use in combination with an alpha blocker to treat high blood pressure and angina.
The FDA says the new drug will improve blood flow to the penis and reduce the pressure in the arteries, allowing men with erectile dysfunction to have an enhanced sexual experience.
The agency said it will also help lower the risk of strokes by reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Danehy said it may not be safe for everyone.
“This is a sensitive topic for us to talk about, but I’m confident that it’s a topic that needs to be discussed in this way,” said Danehy.
He added that patients should discuss the potential benefits and risks of the drugs with their healthcare provider before starting any new medication.
The FDA said it’s reviewing a potentially dangerous condition known as priapism.

Danehy said the agency will continue to monitor for signs of priapism.
“We will be working closely with our partners to understand the potential risks and benefits of this condition,” said Danehy.
